Washington, D.C. – A new Busboys and Poets, at 5th and K Streets, NW, will open today for dinner in Mount Vernon Triangle. The noted restaurant, now part of the CityVista development, is the third location for owner Andy Shallal and will include an expansive outdoor patio.

“Almost overnight the Mount Vernon Triangle area has been transformed into a vibrant, 24-hour destination – first with the openings of 5th Street Ace Hardware and the urban lifestyle Safeway, and now with the launch of the two-story Busboys and Poets,” said Jeff Miller, Chairman of Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District. “Not only will these amenities serve the hundreds of new residents in Mount Vernon Triangle, but it will also draw people from all over the District of Columbia.”

Busboys and Poets is known as a restaurant with broad appeal because of its modest prices, creative décor, diverse clientele, and wide variety of events. Entrees vary from meatloaf to crab cakes and range from $8 to $21. Events will include art openings, poetry readings, lectures, book signings, fundraisers, and receptions – serving as a gathering place for the area. The space will take on the unique character of the neighborhood that is Mount Vernon Triangle.

“City Vista is extremely pleased to welcome Andy Shallal and Busboys and Poets,” said Burr Ault, President, Ault Real Estate Group. “This restaurant fulfills a vision that Lowe Enterprises has for CityVista by providing an exciting and dynamic urban experience for Mount Vernon Triangle. We were focused on anchoring the corner of 5th & K with an establishment that would represent the fabric of an emerging community, providing energy and excitement while offering a casual cafe setting with community-oriented event space.”

Busboys and Poets is a restaurant and gathering place for people who believe that social justice and peace are attainable goals. The location enhances the community – allowing Busboys and Poets to bring together a diverse clientele reflective of the surrounding neighborhood and the city at large. Busboys and Poets strives to create an environment where shared conversations over food and drink allow the progressive, artistic, and literary communities to dialogue, educate, and interact.
