(Washington, D.C.) Last year, the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities in association with the Office of Planning, CityVista, the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District, art experts, and community representatives selected artist, Ethan Kerber, to create a dynamic sculpture for an exterior wall at CityVista, near the intersection of 5th and K Streets, NW in Mount Vernon Triangle. The much-anticipated work will be installed the week of March 1, 2010 -- delayed because of the snow.
“Art should be found where residents and visitors gather, and Ethan Kerber’s sculpture will further brighten the already lively scene at 5th and K Streets,” observed Gloria Nauden, Executive Director of the DC Commission. Ethan Kerber is an emerging artist recognized for his architectural installations. His new work, “Inspiration,” is a contemporary sculpture made of five steel panels, measuring 25' by 25' and weighing nearly 3,500 pounds. The artwork will be placed on the facade just north of the Busboys & Poets entrance on 5th Street, NW.
“My driving ambition is to engage in collaborations with architecture that build community. ‘Inspiration’ celebrates the diverse paths we walk in life while it punctuates the modern lines of CityVista’s handsome architecture,” stated Mr. Kerber.
