She’s the co-founder of Critical Resistance\, an organization whose mission is to end the prison industrial complex. \nKnown for books like Women\, Race & Class\, she has worked as a professor and activist who advocates gender equity\, prison reform and alliances across color lines. \nIn 2019\, Angela Davis was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame. DESCRIPTION:Pepco asked that we share news about a virtual community meeting happening tonight\, May 21 at 6:30 pm to provide an update on the Capital Grid project\, discuss related construction and address concerns. \nSpecific to our community\, included in the Capital Grid project is a new substation facility that will be built on an undeveloped parcel of land that is located north of K Street NW\, south of L Street NW\, east of New Jersey Avenue NW and west of 1st Street NW. Although the site is not located within the boundaries of the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District\, the project’s benefits and impacts will be felt across large parts of the immediate surrounding area. \nYou can join tonight’s meeting either virtually by Skype (allowing you to view the presentation) or by telephone (to hear the presentation only) by using the information contained in the flyer.
