They helped build the network of international allies that spearheaded the global fight against mining in El Salvador and have co-authored several previous books together. \nRobin Broad is an expert in international development and was awarded a prestigious Guggenheim fellowship for her work surrounding mining in El Salvador\, as well as two previous MacArthur fellowships. A professor at American University\, she served as an international economist in the US Treasury Department\, in the US Congress\, and at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. \nJohn Cavanagh is director of the Washington\, DC-based Institute for Policy Studies\, an organization that collaborates with the Poor People’s Campaign and other dynamic social movements to turn ideas into action for peace\, justice\, and the environment. DESCRIPTION:Chef Tim Ma of Lucky Danger in Mount Vernon Triangle and Chef Kevin Tien of Moon Rabbit created Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate in response to the rise in hateful and racist attacks perpetrated against Asians\, Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). This dinner series features five-course take-out dinners each Sunday in April by multiple DC chefs coming together to raise awareness and funds to stop AAPI hate. She is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Pittsburgh and the president of the African American Intellectual History Society. She is currently a 2020-2021 fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard University. She also serves as an editor for the Washington Post’s ‘Made by History’ section. Blain has published extensively on race\, gender\, and politics in both national and global perspectives.
