Calling all Volunteers: Help Clean-Up Rigo Walled Park

Friday June 18, 2021

Volunteers are still needed this Saturday, June 19 for a community clean-up initiative at Rigo Walled Park, the small National Park just north of Safeway between L Street NW and New York Avenue NW. Clean-up and mulching of the park is scheduled from 9am to Noon. Individuals interested in volunteering are asked to join the “Friends of Rigo Walled Park” Facebook group for more details. Here’s what to bring the day of the event:

  • Water and snacks
  • Closed toed shoes and appropriate clothing
  • Sunscreen and other personal needs

All other necessary tools and equipment including gloves will be provided by National Park Service. Approximately 80 bags of mulch has been purchased by the Mount Vernon Triangle CID. Volunteers are asked to share photos and experiences on social media using hashtags #NPSVolunteer #FindYourPark #NationalParks #NationalMall and #MVTCID.

We extend a special thanks James Pierce – Volunteer Coordinator for the National Park Service, National Mall and Memorial Parks – for his partnership with Saturday’s event, and to MVT resident Ned Hull for his strong personal advocacy for the park’s improvement.
