MVT CID Convenes Inaugural Safety Council Meeting

Tuesday February 14, 2017

In response to concerns expressed in recent months regarding issues pertaining to safety and security within the Mount Vernon Triangle community, and consistent with our clean and safe mission, on January 25 the MVT CID convened an inaugural Safety Council meeting at the Association of American Medical Colleges. Nearly 20 stakeholders from residential, commercial office and retail properties across the CID joined representatives from the Metropolitan Police Department, United States Park Police, National Park Service and the District’s Departments of Transportation, Public Works & Health to discuss and solve public safety challenges, enhance our collective safety, and create mechanisms for transparency, accountability, cooperation and, most importantly, results. Scheduled to meet bi-monthly going forward, the Safety Council aims to increase coordination between law enforcement, the MVT CID, and its residents, business owners and commercial tenants with the tangible goal of decreasing crime and increasing public safety within the MVT CID.
