MVT CID Partners with Everybody Wins to Deliver Books to MVT-Area Kids

Friday May 8, 2020

With schools and libraries closed due to COVID-19, access to books that help keep children active and engaged has never been more important. That’s why earlier this week, MVT CID partnered with Everybody Wins DC to deliver free, age-appropriate books and literacy supports to high-need neighborhoods. Together we delivered more than 600 books to children who live in our neighborhood and near the Walker-Jones Education Campus.

In addition to this effort and as previously reported in Triangle Times, MVT CID continues to deliver meals daily to Plaza West—an innovative Mount Vernon Triangle intergenerational residential community for grandparents who are the primary caretakers for their grandchildren. Through our support, Plaza West grandparents must no longer leave home – putting their own health at increased risk in the process, while leaving vulnerable grandchildren to care for themselves or be cared for by others – to help ensure their family does not go hungry. MVT CID has delivered 1,500 meals since March 31—and is committed to continuing this effort as long as needed.
