Upcoming Opportunities to Give Back w/Golf, Bicycling &….Cocktails!

The MVT CID is pleased to share several noteworthy community involvement opportunities with our stakeholders:
 
Bike Ride for Youth Basketball on 4/23: Tarji Irby of World Class Cuts is a devoted coach for All City Elite Basketball and is inviting anyone in the community (and beyond) to register for a 15-mile Bike Tour on Sunday, April 23 to support the student athletes heading to Tennessee for the Under Armour Tournament this June. Registration is $25 with donations of $50 or more earning a free haircut! The bike tour begins at 8:00 AM at the Tanger Outlets in Oxon Hill, MD near National Harbor. Loaner bikes are available. Cocktails for Health Career Pipeline Programs on 4/29: Young Doctors DC (YDDC) is a multi-generational mentoring, education and pipeline to health careers program for high school boys in Southeast Washington, DC. Please join YDDC on Saturday, April 29 from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM for its 5th Annual Fundraiser to be held in Mount Vernon Triangle at the Association of American Medical Colleges. This year’s fundraiser will feature keynote speaker Dr. Hugh E Mighty, Dean of the Howard University College of Medicine & Vice President of Clinical Affairs. Golf for Scholarships on 5/6: Each year, Mount Carmel Baptist Church, one of Mount Vernon Triangle’s historic African-American churches, raises scholarship funds to help young people in our area continue their education after high school. This year’s fundraiser, the 5th Annual Honorable Arlene L. Robinson Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament, will be held on Saturday, May 6 at Joint Base Andrews. We invite our community to consider supporting their efforts through sponsorship, playing in the tournament, donations, offering a door prize or just spreading the word. On-site registration for $100 per player is available until 1 PM the day of the event. Click here for more information.
