SUMMARY:Opening Ceremony of Women in Climate Action Mural by German Artist Hera
DESCRIPTION:The German Embassy Washington\, Street Art for Mankind (SAM) and Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District cordially invite you to an opening celebration of a Women in Climate Action Mural by German artist Hera located at 455 I Street NW in Mount Vernon Triangle. \nJoin us for an opening ceremony featuring remarks by top local and international officials\, uplifting acoustic music by award-winning singer/songwriter Emma G\, and light refreshments courtesy of the German Embassy Washington. \nABOUT THE MURAL \nCreated by the internationally renowned German muralist Hera and curated by SAM\, the 135-foot-high mural will serve as a vivid reminder that we need all of society to tackle climate change. Women and girls must be included when it comes to finding solutions for addressing the climate crisis. The mural features a wise “Mother Nature” personification of the Earth\, surrounded by a grown-up woman farmer planting a tree to support biodiversity and a child watching a bumblebee (a bee species endangered by climate change) approaching a flower. Children from Eaton Elementary School\, the Embassy Adoption Program partner school of the German Embassy\, and the German International School Washington D.C.\, will figuratively plant more flowers as they complete the artistic masterpiece during a workshop led by DC street artist Cita Sadeli (Miss CHELOVE). \nBACKGROUND \nClimate change is one of the biggest challenges we face today. And time is running out\, as we already see devastating consequences all over the globe. With this mural\, the German Embassy Washington and SAM want to recognize the essential role that women play in tackling climate change globally and the crucial need to ensure their equal and meaningful participation in climate action.

DESCRIPTION:If you’ve ever wondered what goes on in Mount Vernon Triangle during a 24-hour span\, you’re in luck! The latest MVT Photo Walk exhibit\, “24 Hours of #LifeinMVT\,” was installed along the 400 block of K Street NW and Prather’s Alley this week.
