Liberty Place Ribbon Cutting Marks Ceremonial Welcome of Mount Vernon Triangle’s Newest Residential Project

On Tuesday, April 12, multiple city officials, development and financial partners, community leaders, and supporters came together for a ceremonial ribbon cutting at Liberty Place, a new all-affordable development located at 3rd & I Streets NW. Following a welcome by IBF Development President Rob Richardson the event featured remarks by:

  • John Falchicchio, DC Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development,
  • Drew Hubbard, Interim Director for the DC Department of Housing and Community Development,
  • Priya Jayachandran, CEO of the National Housing Trust,
  • Steve Smith, Senior Vice President of Truist Community Capital, and
  • Reverend Dr. Paris L. Smith, Pastor of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Developed through a joint venture between NHT Communities & IBF Development and with the assistance of The Wilkes Company & Quadrangle Development Corporation, Liberty Place fulfills the vision of neighboring Mount Carmel Baptist Church to bring additional housing that is affordable to more Washingtonians to our rapidly changing community.

With 71 studio, one- and two-bedroom units serving households with incomes between 30-80% of area median income, Liberty Place offers 11 units are accessible and reserved for those with limited mobility; and 14 units set aside and targeted as permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless neighbors.

Built to meet LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, the nine-story, 64,000 square foot building includes amenities such as a fitness center, bike room, comfortable lobby, and penthouse-level community room and patio.

Area Median Income for the Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area is $129,000 for a household of four, as published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on April 1, 2021.
