From Parking Lots to a Thriving Mixed-Use Community: Witness Mount Vernon Triangle’s Evolution!

Friday October 3, 2025

Last week, MVT CID welcomed colleagues and peers from across the globe to Washington, DC for the 71st International Downtown Association Annual Conference and Marketplace. Co-hosted this year by our friends at the DowntownDC BID, the three day conference allowed MVT CID staff the opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow placemakers and show a lucky few around the neighborhood for a first-hand look at its transformation over the last 20 years. Led by MVT CID President and CEO Kenyattah Robinson, the tour utilized a Story Map (created by our very own Intern Ian this summer!) to visually demonstrate the “before and after” results of over two decades of careful planning and development. Check out some of our favorite “before” photos below and take the map out for a spin on your next walk around the neighborhood!
