Weathering the Storm
Friday January 30, 2026
We want to take a moment to acknowledge the challenging week many of us have faced here in the Triangle and across the District. The snow, ice, and extreme cold have created real obstacles, and we understand the frustration that comes with limited mobility.
We are incredibly proud of our Clean Team’s efforts in maintaining essential public infrastructure, such as ADA-accessible ramps, ensuring they remain clear and accessible. A special thank you to them for their dedication, starting early Sunday morning, to keep our community walkable and open for business. Most team members volunteered to stay overnight in the neighborhood, with support from MVT CID Board Member and Hampton Inn General Manager Adrian Bascom. And all reported for duty each day since the storm began— an incredible demonstration of their commitment both to you, our Mount Vernon Triangle community, and to one another as colleagues and professionals.
We also want to express our gratitude to you, our community, for stepping up and supporting each other. It’s heartwarming to see strangers come together as friends to help stranded motorists free their vehicles from the snow and ice, or assist pedestrians across snow mounds so they can safely cross the street, and in the process showcasing the very best of #LifeInMVT.
We’ll continue to provide updates as necessary, so stay tuned for future emails and posts on our Instagram @mvtcid. But if you need to reach us quickly, don’t hesitate to email us at info@mvtcid.org.
In the meantime, please stay safe, and continue to look out for one another and keep together.
