Top Real Estate Experts Highlight MVT’s Momentum at Yesterday’s Broker Event

Following decades of thoughtful planning and careful coordination by the public and private sectors, Mount Vernon Triangle has become one of the District’s fastest-growing neighborhoods and is now considered a vibrant, inclusive and popular community that contributes to the District’s international reputation as an attractive place to live, work, do business and entertain.
Many of the area’s top commercial real estate professionals have started to notice Mount Vernon Triangle’s growing destination appeal and emergence as a diverse mixed-use community—making the neighborhood’s momentum a top conversation for discussion at yesterday’s Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association of Greater Washington DC (CREBA) at DC Bar’s beautiful new headquarters building.
Moderated by Nicole Miller of Savills Studley, the event included a market overview by Cushman & Wakefield’s regional director of research Nate Edwards. Sandy Wilkes of The Wlikes Company followed with a historical retrospective about the thoughtful public and private sector planning and coordination efforts – starting as far back as the 1980s – that led to Mount Vernon Triangle’s creation. Representatives from Boston Properties (owners of 601 Mass Ave and 1001 6th Street NW), Brookfield (owner of 650 Mass Ave & joint venture owner with Douglas Development of 655 NYA), retail brokerage Miller Walker and owner-occupier DC Bar also shared their perspectives on the market dynamics that make Mount Vernon Triangle an attractive location for residential, office, retail and hospitality users and investors.
MVT CID President & CEO Kenyattah Robinson kicked off the event with a neighborhood overview including a specific focus on number of key elements – such parks and open spaces, artistic and cultural experiences, and critical infrastructure – that are necessary and essential for Mount Vernon Triangle’s continued growth.
