2020 Census Rewards Both DC & 10 Lucky Respondents!
Friday May 8, 2020
Great job Mount Vernon Triangle: you answered our call to support your city and get counted by taking the 2020 Census! Through May 6, response rates for the two census tracts that include the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood now stands at 55 percent and 56.3 percent, respectively. That’s higher than the response rate for all of DC at 53.5 percent but remains just below the national average of 57.7 percent—so there’s still some work to do. But things are trending in the right direction, so thank you!
Participation in the 2020 Census is not only rewarding for our city, but also for the 10 lucky recipients who’ll receive a $10 gift card to the following MVT retailers through our Census Instagram giveaway:
Each of These Retailers Received Two (2) Gift Card Requests
- A Baked Joint
- Busboys & Poets
- Nicoletta Italian Kitchen
Each of These Retailers Received One (1) Gift Card Request
- Mandu
- Shouk
- Tropical Smoothie Café
- Last gift card: TBD
Please take the 2020 Census. Because with so much at stake, we must all do our part to make a difference. Federal financial assistance, such as emergency funding in support of COVID-19 operations, is directly tied to the Census. And with the coronavirus increasing the risk of an undercount it extra important that we all get counted.
It takes just a few minutes to counted online, over the phone or by mail—all without having to meet someone in person. It’s safe, easy and required by law: all you need is your address to respond. The Census is a once-a-decade undertaking to count every person – regardless of age, nationality or immigration status – who is currently lives in the U.S.
Thank you to everyone that participated in the Census and our giveaway. And if you haven’t done so already, be sure to take a minute for your city to get counted and take the 2020 U.S. Census!
