Celebrate Juneteenth in Mount Vernon Triangle

The District was an early adopter of Juneteenth, a holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Celebrated every year on June 19, this federal holiday has been a district holiday since legislation was passed in 2003. Across the Triangle, there are several ways to celebrate Black history this Juneteenth!
