Cobb Park Community Meeting Next Wednesday & Downtown DC BID Park Survey

Tuesday December 7, 2021

Cobb Park Phase One Reactivation

Mark your calendars for a virtual community meeting next Wednesday, December 15 from 6:30-7:30pm to discuss plans for improvements at Cobb Park. At the meeting DC’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and Department of General Services (DGS) will provide the community with project updates including details on the current project scope, schedule, and completion timeline.

In August, we announced the District Council voted to allocate $1.5 million in the city’s fiscal year 2022 capital budget to achieve the community’s strong and overwhelming desire to “re-imagine” Cobb Park; and to begin the 1.2-acre park’s transformation into an iconic destination, civic and gathering space, and gateway into Mount Vernon Triangle and downtown DC. When combined with the $650,000 that already has been allocated, this makes $2.15 million in total initial funding available to support the park’s long-term vision. With funding now secured, MVT CID has been working with our DPR and DGS partners to finalize park design and procurement actions.

Your attendance and feedback are critical to this process and will be greatly appreciated. For more information about this effort, visit our MVT Open Space Planning & Cobb Park Phase One “Reactivation” page on MountVernonTriangle.org.

Downtown DC BID Park Survey

Our friends at the DowntownDC BID asked that we share with subscribers a short survey being conducted to capture the public’s thoughts on future of parks within its boundaries, including Chinatown Park at 5th Street NW & Massachusetts Avenue NW just south of Mount Vernon Triangle. The survey should take less than 5 minutes and will contribute greatly to work underway to enhance the quality of parks and open space amenities and resources within our surrounding area.
