Councilmember Allen Joins MVT CID for a Walk in the [Cobb] Park

Friday November 7, 2025

Last Friday, Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen joined MVT CID staff, project representatives from the DC Departments of Parks and Recreation and General Services, construction contractor, and Star Court Pavilion benefactor Myrna Sislen for a tour around the nearly complete 1.2 acre park. During the visit, Councilmember Allen was able to see firsthand the progress made to the park, stroll on the freshly finished walkway, try out some of the playground equipment (which we learned just past its quality inspection!), and experience what will soon be a first-class community gathering space right here in Mount Vernon Triangle. During the tour, MVT CID President & CEO Kenyattah Robinson was also able to share with Councilmember Allen MVT CID’s vision for future dining, art, and other public amenities (such as a restroom) in the space that could come in a future “Phase 2” development and expressed the need for specific traffic calming measures (like a crosswalk at 3rd & H Streets NW) to ensure safe pedestrian access to the park.

We are grateful for invested public partners like Councilmember Allen who has remained a strong advocate of Cobb Park and look forward sharing in the celebrations with him, the community, and everyone who has made this park possible when it opens soon!
