FRESH Food Drive Recap & FRESHFARM Market Closing Update

Tuesday November 24, 2020

During this season of giving, we’d like to extend a special note of thanks for the $400 donated to this year’s FRESH Food Drive. Your support will allow Food Rescue US to provide nutritious Thanksgiving meals for neighbors of nearby Central Union Mission. FRESHFARM used donations from shoppers and community members to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and other fresh food from local farmers. The food is then donated to FRESHFARM gleaning partners – emergency food assistance organizations like Food Rescue US that are in FRESHFARM’s farmers market neighborhoods – who will use the fresh food to make meals for recipients. The FRESH Food Drive has the added benefit of providing additional income to small farmers while ensuring that our neighbors in need have access to fresh, wholesome food.

And just a quick reminder to FRESHFARM MVT Market shoppers that the market is open through Saturday, December 19four weeks longer than last year and eight weeks longer than previous years thanks to our community’s strong and continued support. What’s more, sales and foot traffic during the next two weeks will determine whether the market could be extended throughout the winter. Please come out to 5th & Eye Streets NW from 9am-1pm and show your continued support for this safe, outdoor shopping experience! Visit our market information page on MountVernonTriangle.org for more information on market news regarding vendor lineups, market rules and time-saving tips.
