FRESHFARM MVT Market Extended Through December 19!

Tuesday October 20, 2020

Great news Mount Vernon Triangle! Thanks to your continued support, our FRESHFARM MVT Market has been extended through Saturday, December 19—one week before Christmas Day and one month longer than its original last day of operations of Saturday, November 21.

You told us in last week’s pulse survey that you would continue shopping at the market if extended through the end of the winter season, and this announcement is an acknowledgement of your overwhelming feedback. The option to extend longer should December sales go well still exists, which is consistent with our goal for a year-round farmers market in Mount Vernon Triangle. Should that occur, our location would become just the fourth FRESHFARM market to operate year-round—a long way since our days of operating a one-vendor farm stand on the corner of 5th & K Streets NW!

Hopefully this bit of good news will serve as extra motivation during tomorrow’s trip to the FRESHFARM MVT Market from 9am-1pm at 5th & Eye Streets NW. At the market
Sunnyside Farms will be taking pre-orders for fresh, pasture-raised turkeys prepared to be refrigerated (not frozen) until Thanksgiving Day. Visit the their website to choose your pick-up location and pay your $40 deposit—or, visit the market this Saturday and let Dru handle it! You can also email her to learn more. A balance of $6 per pound is due when turkeys are picked up the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with each turkey averaging approximately 14 pounds.

Visit the FRESHFARM MVT Market page on MountVernonTriangle.org for a complete list of vendors, market rules, a market map, and time-saving tips such as reserving a shopping time on OpenTable and using the pre-order and pick-up options.
