It’s a (MVT) Love Story

Friday February 10, 2023

We celebrate love in MVT every day of the year, but with Valentine’s Day less than a week away, we wanted to throw a spotlight on two very special MVT residents, Dulce and Fred, who happily said “I Do” right in the comfort of their apartment here in the neighborhood! Read our Q&A with Dulce to learn more about their pandemic wedding and what they love about living in Mount Vernon Triangle:

MVT: Can you give us a brief overview of how you and Fred met? Was it somewhere here Mount Vernon Triangle?
Dulce:
We met on Bumble; our first date wasn’t in Mount Vernon Triangle ☹

MVT: How long have you been living in Washington, DC and when did you move into the neighborhood?
Dulce:
I have been living in DC since 2013 (almost 10 years, wow!). Fred moved to DC and to MVT in 2020, to live together!!

MVT: What was the decision process behind hosting your wedding ceremony in your MVT apartment? Were you considering any other Covid-friendly spots around the neighborhood or city?
Dulce:
We wanted to marry at the DC Courthouse because we live sooooo close, but they weren’t hosting weddings in person! Then we chose the option to have a virtual ceremony in December when my father was visiting us for the holidays. So, we decided to invite our family and closest friends to share with us this special moment both virtually and in-person. It was great to do it at home because we could order the delicious catering from Ottoman Taverna across the street and have our beloved doggie Odin with us during the ceremony. We have the best memories of this day and of course we will keep forever the beautiful shots with our family, friends, and Odin at our house in MVT!!

MVT: What do you love about living in Mount Vernon Triangle?
Dulce:
I love to be near everything! Especially good restaurants, bars and the NATIONAL MALL!

MVT: If you had to pick one MVT restaurant to go to for your anniversary dinner, where would you go?
Dulce:
Ottoman Taverna – We still ordered catering from them, and it was delicious and beautiful!

Congrats again to the happy couple, we’re so glad the neighborhood got to be a small part of your special day!

Fun fact about Dulce: When not busy enjoying life and love in MVT with Fred and Odin, she’s hard at work making Cobb Park a reality as a Community Planner with DC’s Department of Parks and Recreation!
