Meet Dru & Claire, the Mother-Daughter Team Bringing Fresh Eggs to the FRESHFARM MVT Market Every Saturday!

Friday March 7, 2025

We’re excited to kick off our annual Women’s History Month celebrations, when this year throughout March we’ll spotlight some of our incredible women-owned businesses that you can shop on Saturdays at the FRESHFARM MVT Market located at the corner of 5th & I Streets NW from 9am-1pm! First up Dru Peters and Claire O’Brien, co-owners & operators of Sunnyside Farm! The mother-daughter duo have been main-stays at the FRESHFARM MVT Market since 2017, when it expanded from a one-vendor produce stand to its current iteration on I Street NW, bringing fresh-cut flowers and freshly laid eggs to market weekly. And our fans of the FRESHFARM MVT Winter Market can thank Sunnyside Flowers in-part for our extension into a year-round market. Turns out, chickens lay eggs in all seasons and the loyal customer base at MVT keeps the demand high no matter the weather!

Dru and Claire operate Sunnyside Flowers in York County, Pennsylvania. Dru began the farm in 2001 in an effort to provide more quality food to her community. Sunnyside Flowers provides unique varieties of local flowers, including cut flower bouquets and seasonal wreaths, as well as fresh eggs from pasture-raised hens — all grown and cared for on their own farm. Be sure to say hi to Dru and Claire the next time you’re at FRESHFARM MVT Market and check out all the weekly and bi-weekly vendors coming to market this weekend at mountvernontriangle.org!
