Meet Your Local Library!

Friday August 1, 2025

As a wise young aardvark once said, “having fun isn’t hard, when you’ve got a library card!” Did you know that there’s a DC Public Library branch located at 155 L Street NW, mere steps outside Mount Vernon Triangle? Northwest One Neighborhood Library is your one stop shop for entertainment and information. With your (free!) library card, you can stream films on Kanopy, and get unlimited digital access to the Washington Post and New York Times, thousands of eBooks and eAudioBooks, and so much more. If you prefer the experience of a physical book and the branch doesn’t currently have the title that you are looking for, the friendly and helpful librarians can place a hold for you to pick up. Plus, the library offers a number of free programs including a weekly Yarn & Yap series every Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm.

And summer is the perfect time to visit. Happening now through August 31, stop by Northwest One Library to register for the Discover Summer reading campaign. With specific programs designed for kidsteens, and yes, even adults you can foster the joy (and nostalgia) of reading at any age. So get your gameboard, tick some summer reading off your list, and get ready to win some amazing prizes!
