MVT Boasts Six RAMMYS Finalists, DC’s Restaurant Industry Awards

Earlier this week, Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) announced the nominees for the 40th annual RAMMY Awards (the Oscars for Washington’s restaurant industry), and we’re thrilled to share the six MVT restaurants that made the cut.
And the nominees are:
Rising Culinary Star of the Year: An “up and coming” chef who demonstrates exemplary talent, shows leadership and promise for the future.
- Elias Taddesse, Mélange
Splendid Holidays at Home: Nominees created celebratory holiday menus to go between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 with all the bells and whistles to help guests have memorable holidays at home.
- Stellina (opening soon at 508 K Street NW!)
Manager of the Year: Nominees in this category are non-owner managers or general managers who display the highest level of professionalism and leadership and are an inspiration and mentor to all of their co-workers displaying outstanding service, an excellent work ethic and a positive image.
- Gian Mario Cabiddu, Alta Strada
Casual Restaurant of the Year: The nominee is a restaurant that demonstrates a dedication to dining excellence, service, and value in a casual environment.
Upscale Casual Restaurant of the Year: The nominee is a restaurant that demonstrates a high standard of dining excellence and service in an upscale casual environment.
Restaurateur of the Year: The nominee is a working restaurateur or restaurant group who sets high standards in restaurant operations and entrepreneurship. Candidates must have been in the restaurant business for a minimum of 5 years in the Metropolitan Washington area.
- Andrew Dana and Daniela Moreira, Call Your Mother* (as well as Timber Pizza, Turu’s Pizza & Mercy)
*While not technically a MVT-based business, we included Call Your Mother in our list due to its participation in the FRESHFARM MVT Market.
Congratulations to all the nominees and best of luck bringing home the award! We couldn’t be prouder to have you all in our neighborhood. The winners, selected by an anonymous panel of food and media professionals, will be announced at a July 24 gala, held at at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
