MVT CID Clean Team Member Featured on ABC 7 News

Tuesday January 9, 2018

In 2017, we profiled Clean Team member Steve Powell’s transition from homelessness to homeownership through the combination of his own hard work, help from Central Union Mission and Habitat for Humanity, a grant from DC’s Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), and his employment at the MVT CID.

Steve more recently articulated the housing affordability challenges faced by many in DC, which could lead to homelessness, during a recent interview on WJLA ABC 7 News. The story was part of a broader discussion about DC homelessness, and Mayor Bowser’s push to close DC General Hospital (the current family emergency shelter) via equitable distribution of those 400 units across all eight wards.

Please join us in celebrating the achievements of Steve and the six other men who proudly wear our Clean Team uniform!

The MVT CID Clean Team is funded in part by a grant from DSLBD and is affiliated with Ready to Work job training program at Central Union Mission. The MVT CID works closely with DC municipal services to ensure a clean and safe neighborhood.
