MVT CID Message of Solidarity with AAPI Community

Sunday March 21, 2021

The rise in hateful, violent and unprovoked attacks perpetrated against Asians, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) is abhorrent and intolerable. We express our deepest sympathy for all in our community and beyond who have been hurt, frightened and traumatized by such vile and overtly racist incidents.

Celebrating our community’s diversity is core to our efforts in support of championing Mount Vernon Triangle’s continued evolution as a dynamic, inclusive and attractive place to live, work and visit. And is why we believe that it is our collective responsibility to speak up, condemn hate and work to create a meaningful and lasting social change.

MVT CID is committed to bringing awareness and uplifting the voices of those affected by racism or xenophobia. And we encourage others to do the same. For those looking for ways to show support for the AAPI community and local businesses, please check out @ChefsStoppingAAPIHate — a series of five-course take-out dinners by multiple DC chefs coming together to raise awareness and funds to @stopAAPIhate.

Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate is co-founded by Chef Tim Ma of Lucky Danger in Mount Vernon Triangle and Chef Kevin Tien of Moon Rabbit. Mount Vernon Triangle establishments RASA and Mélange are also involved in this effort. Additional details are forthcoming and will announced when available, so please stay tuned.
