MVT CID Welcomes Friendship Heights Alliance Youth Advisory Council to Cobb Park

Friday October 9, 2026

Earlier this week, MVT CID welcomed members of the Friendship Heights Alliance Youth Advisory Council to Cobb Park to learn more about what went into creating downtown DC’s first new public park in years. The students had the opportunity to hear from Kenyattah Robinson who walked them through the challenges – including securing project funding – and the small victories – like seeing kids and adults alike enjoying the swing set for which MVT CID advocated so heavily on the community’s behalf. The students were left to marvel at the fact that the patch of grass they were standing on hangs directly over I-395 and voiced their deeper appreciation for the determination and persistence required to deliver quality community spaces. And the work at Cobb Park continues as the Star Court Pavilion’s fabricators returned this week to make adjustments to the fins to provide slightly more shade to the western side of the park – marking the beginning of the process for completing the structure and opening that section of the park for all to enjoy!
