National Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight: 2fifty Texas BBQ

Monday September 29, 2025

This week our National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations continue with a spotlight on 2fifty Texas BBQ! The 2025 RAMW “Casual Restaurant of the Year” winner is co-owned by husband & wife team Fernando González and Debby Portillo González who proudly integrate their Salvadorian routes into menu items like brisket tamales, Pineapple Ribs, and Bonfire Beets.

Recently, Debby was selected as one of only 21 women to be a part of the prestigious 2025 James Beard Foundation Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership (WEL) Program. This 11-week intensive created in partnership with Cornell University sharpens strategy, expands vision, and deepens the impact of women-led restaurants across the country. Reflecting on the selection in a recent blog post, the team writes:

Debby’s journey didn’t begin with a business plan. It began in her family’s kitchens in El Salvador. She’s the third generation of women in her family to own and manage restaurants. That story, built on strength, long hours, and service with soul, is the foundation of everything she does.

Congratulations to Debby for this well-earned opportunity we can’t wait to see what you build out of it!
