Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Donate to the MVT Food Drive!
Friday October 31, 2025

The season of giving officially starts Saturday here in Mount Vernon Triangle! With the anticipated increase in demand on food banks as the government shutdown continues and federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits set to end this Saturday, November 1, we hope to increase our impact this year by working with a new collections partner, increasing our donation drop-off points, and adding in a fun incentive for all who give! Read more about the updates to the program below and please give what you can this season:
This Year’s Collection Partner: Capital Area Food Bank
This year we teamed up with Capital Area Food Bank because it partners with organizations in close proximity to Mount Vernon Triangle. This means that your donations will have a higher likelihood of benefitting neighbors in our own community.
Increasing our Donation Drop-Off Points:
In the past, we have worked exclusively with FRESHFARM to host a collection box at the weekly Mount Vernon Triangle farmers market on Saturdays in November leading up to Thanksgiving. And though we still plan to host a box at the FRESHFARM Welcome Tent located at 5th & I Streets NW from 9am-1pm on November 1, 8, 15 & 22 this year, we are also thrilled to announce we have partnered with the property managers at MVT residential and office buildings as well as hospitality partners to host collection boxes in their lobbies. Now if you are a resident or employee at 455 Mass, Association of American Medical Colleges, Cantata, Carmel Plaza, Claret, Crosby, DC Bar, Holiday Inn Express, Homewood Suites, K at City Vista, Lydian, Lyric, Madrigal Lofts, and The Sonata you will be able to donate canned goods or non-perishable food items without ever going outside!
Don’t see your property on the list? Speak with your building manager about getting a drop off spot added and a collection box will be delivered to your lobby!
Just Another Reason to Give:
Lastly, we also decided to sweeten the deal a little for those who make a donation this year! We will have a QR code stationed next to the collection boxes so that anyone who gives has the opportunity to let us know they donated for a chance to win MVT Bucks from us! We will do weekly drawings on Wednesdays, November 5, 12, 19 & 26 so you can enter at any time!
