New Mobile Kiosks Debut at the FRESHFARM MVT Market
Thursday December 15, 2022
On Saturday, December 10, FRESHFARM MVT Market attendees were treated to a sneak peek – along with a free sample of a freshly-fried latke made with ingredients from the market! – of a new programming initiative set to make its way to 5th & I Streets NW on a regular basis come Spring. The custom-made mobile kiosks – that also include a retail kiosk helmed on the day of the reveal by local jeweler Petit Mélange – were a collaborative effort between the Mount Vernon Triangle CID and FRESHFARM with product and urban design support provided by EL Studio and urbanSEED.
The kitchen kiosks feature three separate compartments for “cook,” “wash” and “store” and come complete with expandable countertops, a retractable demo-mirror, and a functioning hot-water sink while the retail kiosk features storage cabinets, expandable countertops, and a backboard perfect for hanging jewelry or other items from! The new infrastructure will support bi-monthly cooking demonstrations from FRESHFARM staff and neighborhood restaurant chefs along with a rotating list of local vendors. Stay tuned for more scheduling details as we enter the warmer Spring months!
The MVT Mobile Kiosks were made possible by funds from the Office of Planning Streets for People Grant Program.
