Pepco Joins Local Partners to Celebrate Earth Day 2022

Earth Day 2022 on April 23 is fast approaching, and in conjunction with this annual event highlighting and supporting environmental issues and protection Pepco and Smoot Construction have partnered with several local partners to organize volunteer service events across the Mount Vernon Triangle & Northwest One communities.

Clean-Up Opportunities

Volunteers will meet at 9a.m. at the Severna on K at 43 K Street NW and will be disperse in the area to:

  • Assist with neighborhood clean-up efforts
  • Assist seniors and other local resident dispose of materials and trash

Dumpsters will be located on Pepco’s property at the corner of K Street NW & New Jersey Avenue NW for residents to dispose of unwanted items and trash.  Dumpsters will be removed from the site the following morning to dispose of collected trash. Refreshments and lunch for volunteers and neighbors will be provided by Smoot Construction.

Electronics Recycling

The Mount Vernon Triangle CID and FRESHFARM MVT Market have partnered with Pepco to collect unwanted electronics during market from 9am-1pm on Saturday, April 23. Items suitable for recycling include computers, monitors, gaming consoles, mice, keyboards, printers, cellular phones, computer speakers, DVD players, printers, and other electronics. The market is located at 499 I Street NW at the intersection of 5th & I Streets NW.
