Jiu Jitsu for Self Defense

For this class, Professor Luis will lead a beginner friendly Jiu Jitsu for Self-Defense training session that includes learning about movement drills, safe takedowns for beginners, escapes from bad positions and learning submission techniques. This training session will also include positional sparring for those that are comfortable.
Professor Luis began practicing martial arts nearly 20 years ago while he was in the US Navy stationed in Atsugi, Japan. After moving to the DMV, he began training with and received all of his BJJ belts from Professor Nakapan. He is currently the General Manager and a Black Belt instructor at BETA Academy.
The Academy of Body Efficient Tactical Arts (BETA Academy), was established in 2009 and is currently the largest and most popular martial arts academy in Washington D.C. with a 2nd location opening up soon in Capitol Hill.
Professor Luis has competed in many grappling tournaments including US Grappling, Copa Nova, Grappling Industries, United Grappling Association and many International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) tournaments including the Washington D.C. Open, New York Open and the Nogi Pan American Champions.
