Initiatives > “One” Prospectives Art Project
About
When Mount Vernon Triangle CID started looking into exhibiting art in the public space, a couple questions arose. How does art in public space change our perception and interpretation of it? What obligation does the artist have to the public when creating art for the public? What is art’s responsibility – if any – in inspiring social change?
To help answer these questions, MVT CID created a space for members of the community to share their perspectives and ask questions of their own. We worked with local artist Hiroshi Jacobs and Creative Strategist Philippa Hughes to provide our neighborhood with artwork that would inspire, grow, and lead to further conversations. These sculptures were housed in the 300 and 400 blocks of K Street from 2019 to 2021.
