Initiatives > “Voices for Change: Representation, Progress & Hope” Mural
About
In January 2021, to honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, which seeks to encourage Americans to volunteer to improve their communities, the Mount Vernon Triangle CID partnered with P.A.I.N.T.S. Institute and the owners of the property at 476 K Street NW to activate a large scale, public mural at the intersections of 5th & K Streets NW.
Entitled “Voices for Change: Representation, Progress & Hope,” the commemorative mural – celebrated community, arts, and education – aiming to unite and rally all Americans to work toward peaceful, positive change. The mural was a collaboration among local artists Shawn Perkins, Levi Robinson, and Dez Zambrano.
