Bar Chinois Makes WaPo List of 11 Best Cocktail Bar Happy Hours

Friday October 13, 2023

Congrats to the team at Bar Chinois, which last Saturday celebrated its two-year anniversary, for making the Washington Post round-up of “The 11 best happy hours at D.C. cocktail bars.” From the article:

This welcoming, industrial hot spot [in] Mount Vernon Triangle doesn’t mess around: All drinks are half-price during the lively, frequently standing-room-only happy hour, which puts them in the $6-to-$8 range. The menu leans toward clever, French-influenced variations of well-known cocktails: The Panaché reimagines the staple shandy with elderflower liqueur and gin blended with Kronenbourg’s wheat beer. The spicy Carré Nouvelle is a French riff on the Black Manhattan: rye, vermouth, a Baltimore-made amaro bright with Szechuan peppercorns and, to smooth it out, a sweet VS cognac. For agave fans, the Humble Cobbler was inspired by the Naked and Famous, blending smoky mezcal, bitter herbal notes and a subtle sweetness.

Bar Chinois is located at 455 I Street NW on the ground floor of 455 Eye Apartments. Enjoy happy hour Tuesday-Saturday from 5-7pm and Sunday from 3-5pm.
