Friday July 10, 2020

In response to the recent historic vote in the U.S. House of Representatives, longtime MVT partner, The Historical Society of Washington, DC, is hosting the virtual discussion – “Is Statehood Possible? If so, How?” – next Thursday, July 16 at 7:30 pm. This Zoom conversation about voting rights in DC history will feature Derek Musgrove, co-author of Chocolate City: Democracy and Race Relations in the Nation’s Capital and Bob Levey, best known for his work as a columnist at the Washington Post. Visit the virtual discussion’s Eventbrite page for more information and to register.

This program joins new virtual education activities focusing on voting rights that The Historical Society has created for District families (with support from the DC Office of the Secretary), including these teaching resources for distance learning. Located immediately adjacent to Mount Vernon Triangle at The Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square, The Historical Society of Washington DC and its DC History Center helps to collect, interpret and share the history of our Nation’s Capital.
