Largest Building Move in DC HIstory at Douglas Development’s 650 New York Ave. Project

Wednesday May 27, 2015

Last week, we joined Douglas Development as they began moving two historic structures at 639 New York Avenue, making headlines as the largest building move in DC history. The site will include 15 historic buildings – only two will be moved. The first building moved weighs 800 tons and the second weighs 1,100 tons. The move places the 19th century buildings on a concrete slab, where they will remain and later be integrated into the mixed use project comprised of 350,000 square feet of office and 70,000 square feet of retail space.
