Mount Vernon Triangle CID Names Claire Schaefer Oleksiak as President

Washington, DC – The Executive Committee of the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (CID) is pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Schaefer Oleksiak as President of the CID, a 17-block neighborhood within downtown Washington, D.C. known for both its dynamic growth and its enduring sense of community. Claire will join the CID on August 5th.

Mount Vernon Triangle CID Board Chairman, Dr. Joseph Evans, commented on the appointment, saying, “The Board of Directors and the Mount Vernon Triangle community welcome Claire at this very important time in the life of our neighborhood. Her experience and lifelong passion for placemaking, community-building and economic development makes her the perfect choice to lead our organization forward in concert with the many initiatives underway within Mount Vernon Triangle.”

“The Mount Vernon Triangle is an exciting and rapidly developing community, rich in history and authentic sense of neighborhood, and also has the highest quality of new development and investment that is attracting residents, retail and business,” said Claire Oleksiak. “I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and stakeholders of the CID to strengthen the vision and vibrancy of Mount Vernon Triangle and create a leading example of a successful mixed-use urban community.” Claire joins the Mount Vernon Triangle CID after six years as Deputy Executive Director of the Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District, where she played a leading role in the establishment of that BID and the Yards Park LLC organizations. Her experience includes management of the BID’s operations and staff, the design and implementation of its strategic work program initiatives, budget management and marketing initiatives. She directed the BID’s legislative reauthorization process and was responsible for the application for, and award of, a $50,000 Public Art Building Communities grant from the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities.

Claire is a member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) DC, the International Downtown Association and the Cornell Alumni Ambassador Network of Washington, D.C. and served in the past as a member of the Advisory Committee for the DC Commission on Arts & Humanities Public Art Master Plan. She earned an MS from Oxford University and her BA from Cornell University.

The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District is a private, nonprofit organization established to enhance the overall quality of life for residents, visitors, employees and property owners in Washington D.C.’s best example of a mixed-use community in the heart of the City. Founded in 2004, the CID boundaries comprise 17 blocks within the east end of downtown Washington, D.C. bordered by Seventh Street on the west, New York Avenue on the north, New Jersey Avenue on the east and Massachusetts Avenue, 6th Street, and K Street on the south.
