MVT CID Hosts Fitness & Health Day in the Triangle – Saturday, Oct. 10th

Just announced! Fruitive will be giving away free samples of their cold-pressed juices -Kalevolution, Immunity +, Brighten Up, and All Greens – all morning. In addition, we will have free blood pressure screenings courtesy Howard University and AAMC.

The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (MVT CID) is pleased to announce Fitness & Health Day in the Triangle from 10:00 am until noon on Saturday, 10th, bringing together all of the neighborhood fitness and healthy retailers in the CID for an energetic display of workout (and relaxation) options at the 5th & K Street plaza next to the FRESHFARM Market. Participants include:

Bhakti Yoga and Therapies: Washington’s newest yoga community opens its doors at 928 5th Street, NW on October 3rd with a full day of free activities. Bhakti will do a yoga demo at the Fitness & Health Day and will give out free class passes, schedules and studio info. At their studio, during this grand opening day, they will have activities including yoga and meditation classes in the morning and an evening program of yoga accompanied by live music, a vegetarian meal, kirtan (mantra music) and presentations of Indian dance and sacred philosophy.

BicycleSPACE: BicycleSPACE, located at 440 K Street, NW (Lyric apartments) is a community-centered bike shop that values people as much more than customers. There’s always something going on at BicycleSPACE! From weekly group rides to Fix-A-Flat classes, you can find something fun and approachable. BicycleSPACE will showcase commuter accessories that highlight ways to be active on a daily basis, as part of getting to-and-from work as well as some of their fitness oriented bikes and indoor trainers on display at the Fitness & Health Day.

Orangetheory Fitness: Get ready for the most effective workout you have ever experienced. The intensity is based on your heart rate, so Orangetheory Fitness is for anyone – whether you are new to fitness or a professional athlete. Each class is different, and every session is energetic. The results? More energy, visible toning and extra calorie burn. We call it the “Orange Effect,” and it is the x-factor to a totally new you. Orangetheory is opening this Fall at 425 Eye Street.

[solidcore]: [solidcore], located at 433 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, is a 50-minute, full body workout, that uses slow and controlled movements to work your muscles to failure…yes, failure. It’s unlike anything you have ever done before. [solidcore] will be raffling off three 5-class packages at the Fitness & Health Day. SoulCycle: SoulCycle, opening this week at 601 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, is a 45 minute full body workout. SoulCycle makes exercise FUN. The combination of inspirational instructors, epic spaces, rocking music and dark candlelit rooms allows for a truly transformative experience. Rides take place to one-of-a-kind playlists with instructors who are inspirational coaches, pushing riders to do their best on and off the bike. The exercise program focuses on rhythm and the “energy of the pack,” which creates a strong bond between riders. Stop by for giveaways, music, meet the instructors and lots of fun!

VIDA Fitness: VIDA Fitness at City Vista serves a wide variety of local residents and business professionals for all of their fitness needs. This location spans over 25,000 square feet of usable space, complete with the Fuel Bar, and full-service locker rooms stocked with a variety of complimentary products from Bang Salon. VIDA will be doing a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) demo session at 11:15 on the plaza.

Howard University medical students will also be on hand to do free medical screenings.
