MVT CID Recipient of Two 2014 Downtown Merit Awards from IDA
Friday September 5, 2014
The International Downtown Association (IDA) has recognized the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (MVT CID) with two Downtown Merit Awards for its work and initiatives related to the K Street Streetscape, Design, Construction and Activation (Public Space Category) and for the MVT CID Marketing and Communications Implementation (Marketing and Communications Category).
The submissions were among many in their categories. The Public Space category recognizes capital improvements that enhanced the urban design, physical function, or economic viability of downtown and the community. The Marketing and Communication category highlights plans or strategies that used print, electronic media, or multimedia efforts to promote downtown and further the value of city centers.
“The Mount Vernon Triangle community has seen dramatic positive changes, both in the welcoming nature of our public spaces – particularly on K Street – and through the growing awareness of its attributes through our marketing programs,” said MVT CID President, Claire Schaefer Oleksiak. “We are honored by IDA’s recognition and see these achievements as just one part of the vitality and growth happening throughout our neighborhood.”
“The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District’s projects received the IDA Merit Awards for delivering excellence in downtown management and in marketing and communications,” said David Downey, IDA President and CEO. “Each year the IDA Awards Jury recognizes organizations that utilize best practices in our industry. The K Street Streetscape and Marketing and Communications Implementations are shining examples of excellent downtown management delivering real value to the city.”
