A Little More About that Reimbursable Maintenance Agreement Between MVT CID & DDOT
Friday October 2, 2026
Last week, we shared how MVT CID utilized funds available through a reimbursable maintenance agreement (RMA) with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) to execute transportation improvements bearing significant economic development importance for the alley bisecting Square 451, and today we’re following up with a few more ways MVT CID was able to implement these funds during our most recent fiscal year ending yesterday, September 30.
The RMA allows MVT CID to execute infrastructure improvements that typically would be handled by DDOT including: flex post installation, brick & paver work, bike rack installation, and traffic studies. This program removes an administrative burden from our District partners, allowing them to focus on important areas of need across other parts of the city, while enabling faster completion of concentrated repairs tailored to the needs of our community.
In fiscal year 2026, MVT CID successfully invested more than $15,000 – equating to 97% of the funds allocated – directly back into the neighborhood through this agreement and worked with local contractors for much-needed brick and paver repair work on the 500 & 600 blocks of K Street NW and 900 block of 5th Street NW, and tree work on the 400 Block of I Street NW as well as 6th & K Streets NW, along with the Square 451 Alley project.
MVT CID has also been integral in advocating to the city to expand this program and increase the list of allowed projects. This is just one more way MVT CID works directly with its District partners to enhance the everyday experience of those who live in, work in, and visit Mount Vernon Triangle. We’re thrilled to continue doing the work and, if there’s something in the public realm that you feel needs improving, please feel free to email us any time at info@mvtcid.org or submit a service request via mountvernontriangle.org and we will gladly look into it.
