Carpe Librum Book Festival Recap & Ongoing MVT GroundWorks Book Drive

Thursday November 14, 2019

On Saturday, November 2, the MVT CID partnered to host a book festival in Milian Park. Guests were able to browse thousands of gently used books, CDs and DVDs—all on sale for less than $6. The books were provided by Carpe Librum, a used, donation-based bookstore benefiting Turning the Page, DC nonprofit that links public schools, families and the community to ensure students receive valuable educational resources and a high-quality public education. There was something for everyone at this sale: children’s books, teen reads, brand-new bestsellers in amazing condition, classic vintage hardbacks and more!

This book sale was part of an ongoing, two-month effort through MVT GroundWorks, our community volunteer program. In partnership with Carpe Librum, the MVT CID is hosting book drives in multiple MVT residential buildings where residents can donate used books. Donations are then sold in the Carpe Librum bookstore in DC and pop-up shops such as the one held in Milian Park. Turning the Page uses the profits to support its educational mission.

A special thanks to the following properties and residents for their participation in the MVT GroundWorks book drive:
