Community Safety Training Sessions Underway

Thursday June 19, 2025

Yesterday, MVT CID hosted The h3 Project (which provides homeless outreach services in MVT) at Mount Carmel Baptist Church to teach “Homelessness 101 & Opioids Overview and Awareness” and “NARCAN (naloxone) Administration” to members of our staff and community. Did you know that DC ranks the second highest in the country for deaths caused by opioid overdoses? And that these deaths affect DC’s Black community at an alarmingly high rate? We are proud to have participated in this training and hope that Dr. Ami Angell’s and her team’s educational outreach continues to empower more members of our community and beyond to potentially save lives!

Creating a “culture of safety” in Mount Vernon Triangle takes the support of our entire community, and thanks to a Safe Commercial Corridors Grant from the DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice we’re now able to offer community safety training sessions in partnership with The h3 Project that are free for all to attend. There’s still spaces available at the “Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) Certificate Training Course” being offered next Thursday. Learn more and register below:
