Crosswalk and Signal Arrive at 3rd & H Street NW!

Friday July 10, 2026

Last week we shared a sneak preview of the progress happening at 3rd & H Streets NW and this week we’re thrilled to announce that after years of advocacy, a new crosswalk and automatic Hawk Signal have been installed at the 3rd & H Streets NW intersection! This improvement will ensure pedestrians passing north and south along 3rd Street or headed to the northwest entrance of Cobb Park have access to a safe and direct route.

The addition of a crosswalk and signal at the 3rd & H Street NW intersection also means it’s now possible to walk directly (and safely!) along 3rd Street NW from the Department of Labor (200 Constitution Avenue NW) to 3rd & K Street NW along a fully unobstructed and pedestrian-friendly path, further making Mount Vernon Triangle a connected, walkable, and accessible neighborhood.

Check it out the new pedestrian amenity for yourself the next time you walk to Cobb Park, dine at Capitol Crossing, or head home from the Judiciary Square metro or take a test run in our latest Instagram post on @MVTCID!

We once again extend our thanks to Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen and our partners at the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) — in addition to the consistent feedback of our neighbors — for their work in bringing this necessary safety enhancement to Mount Vernon Triangle.
