Fall Fun Day Caps Off Successful 2017 FRESHFARM MVT Market Season

Tuesday November 28, 2017

Families, kids and dogs filled Milian Park on Saturday, October 28 to enjoy pet costumes, free crafts, trick or treating, and beautiful weather at Fall Fun Day—the culminating event of the 2017 FRESHFARM MVT market season. Check out event photos including the winners of this year’s dog costume parade as chosen by celebrity judges Alex Marriott of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 6E, Oubab Khalil of Tropical Smoothie Café and Alexandria “Alex” Ward of FRESHFARM Markets. The MVT CID extends a special thanks to the following supporters for their participation in Fall Fun Day:

Fall Fun Day marked a festive end to a highly successful 2017 FRESHFARM MVT market season. As previously reported in Triangle Times, three years of growing sales and clear feedback from residents that they would enjoy more selection led the MVT CID and FRESHFARM Markets to relocate and expand the market from 5th & K Streets NW to I Street NW between 4-1/2 and 5th Streets NW (adjacent to Milian Park at 5th & Mass). The move was a tremendous success, with the relocated and expanded market reporting the following increases compared to 2016:

  • 69 percent increase in customers
  • 83 percent increase in sales revenue
  • 117 percent increase in nutrition assistance to neighbors supported by a federally sponsored nutrition program to enhance access to fresh food and reduce nutritional risk

The MVT CID extends a special thanks to our 2017 sponsors without whom the market would not be possible:

See you in 2018 for another exciting market season!
