FRESHFARM MVT Market Halfway Report, Program Updates & Weekend Line-Up

Thursday August 20, 2020

We recently passed the halfway point of the 2020 FRESHFARM MVT Market season. And despite a global health pandemic, nearby First Amendment demonstrations, a heightened regulatory environment, and a few other unexpected curveballs, the market continues to exhibit strong growth, increased sales and positive trends. More importantly, our farmers and producers continue to feel strong support from our MVT community.

Through July, per-week sales at our market are 4 percent higher than they were at the same point in 2019. This despite the market operating more restrictively in support of enhanced customer safety, including prohibitions against food service and caps on the number of simultaneous customers in the market. Even with these challenges, FRESHFARM and MVT CID are always in search of new ways to enhance the customer experience and will continue to announce program changes throughout the season, so please stay tuned for those updates.

As for this weekend, swing by the FRESHFARM MVT Market at 5th & Eye Streets NW from 9am-1pm where you purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, protein products and other goodies from the following line-up of farmers and producers:

We’re also sad to announce that Orchard Breeze Farm, seller pork, chicken, lamb, beef, eggs and turkey, is no longer servicing our market. We are close to identifying another vendor to supplement the high-quality meat products also sold by current market vendor Sunnyside Flowers, and will announce their addition to the market once that decision has been made.

Visit the FRESHFARM MVT Market page on MountVernonTriangle.org for a complete list of market rules, a market map, and time-saving tips such as reserving a shopping time on OpenTable and using the pre-order and pick-up options.
