MVT CID’s Board of Directors Elects New Leadership

At its most recent meeting on Tuesday, September 30, MVT CID’s Board of Directors unanimously elected Rahul Vinod to the position of Board Chair for its FY 2026 operational year. Rahul, who has served on the Executive Committee as Secretary since being elected to the Board of Directors in 2021, is co-founder of fine fast casual Indian restaurant RASA, which opened its second location in the Triangle in 2020.
Reflecting on the legacy of departing chairman Berk Shervin, President & COO at The Wilkes Company and long-time Mount Vernon Triangle property owner, Rahul noted that he was a “steady force of leadership who has deeply and positively impacted the Triangle’s growth trajectory during his eight-year tenure as Board Chair. His foresight and vision has contributed majorly to the neighborhood’s transformation into a distinct downtown place that is home to the diverse mix of commercial and residential buildings, people, and experiences that have come to define today’s Mount Vernon Triangle.”
MVT CID President & CEO Kenyattah Robinson added: “We are all indebted to the countless hours and unceasingly careful thought that Berk gave to the betterment of this organization, the community, and our city. Through his passion for public art, appreciation for the power of well-maintained, programmed, and animated public spaces, and strong belief in listening to the voices of our stakeholders throughout all aspects of our planning and decision-making, he was instrumental in many of the aspects that make Mount Vernon Triangle the desirable and livable community that it is today. I am extremely fortunate to have worked alongside a Board Chair with such vested interest in his role and will certainly miss our insightful weekly phone calls, though I wouldn’t be surprised if he continued to ring from time to time. As Mount Vernon Triangle continues its transformation from a neighborhood “‘on the rise” to one that has fully arrived, we are excited that its new chapter will be guided by the entrepreneurial spirit that has lead Rahul and his co-founder Sahil to develop one of the most successful local restaurant chains in the DMV. Rahul certainly has big shoes to fill, but I am positive that he is up for the challenge and look forward to our time working together.”
