MVT Fall Fun Day Recap & Photos!

Friday November 5, 2021

The “community” in Community Improvement District was on full display last Saturday, October 30 for MVT Fall Fun Day at Milian Park. Fortunately, the day turned out much better than expected given the heavy rains that rolled through the area on Friday. But as the first major MVT CID community event since the start of the public health emergency in March 2020, it was clearly meant to be.

Dozens of costumed children, adults, and pets streamed into the park as the soulful sounds of MVT-fave Emma G. filled the air, with our younger attendees playing games, getting inflated creations from our balloon twister, hanging out with the scarecrow on stilts, painting pumpkins, and getting their faces painted in the likeness of their favorite animated characters. Our Mount Vernon Triangle businesses and residential properties (listed below) also stepped up to the plate by generously donating candy for the mini monsters parade—ensuring that both our mini monsters (and their big monsters!) left with full bags and even fuller hearts.

The event also marked the return of Dog Costume Parade & Contest – our marquee MVT Fall Fun Day event! – where the following pups and their owners took home the top prizes:

  • First Place: “Dog & Cat Cowboy” of 425 Mass Apartments (owner’s prize: $100 in gift certificates to spend at participating MVT businesses)
  • Second Place: Pepita “The Postman” of Gables at City Vista Apartments (owner’s prize: $75 in gift certificates to spend at participating MVT businesses)
  • Third Place: “Doge Coin” of 555 Mass Ave Condominiums (owner’s prize: $50 in gift certificates to spend at participating MVT businesses)

MVT CID extends special thanks to A Baked Joint for its donation of tasty dog treats for the event, and to Dean Mosones of Bar Chinois, Julie Smith of 450K Apartments, Kevin Rogers of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 6E07, and dedicated MVT resident Emily Eichenthal for graciously agreeing to judge this year’s contest. We also congratulate Danielle Scheer for her guessing game contest entry of 3,762 – which was closest to the actual number of 3,752! For her superior guessing skills Danielle received $75 in gift certificates to spend at a participating Mount Vernon Triangle businesses.
