“MVT20: The Encore” Celebrates 20 Years of Community Building in Mount Vernon Triangle

Friday October 4, 2024

Last Friday, September 27, guests were welcomed to HEMPHILL to celebrate 20 years of community building in Mount Vernon Triangle as MVT CID closed out its 20th anniversary year with the successful implementation of public space investments through a second round of funding from DC Office of Planning’s “Streets for People” grant program. These improvements include: John Ruppert’s “Verdant Orb,” the installation of the third MVT Photo Walk exhibit “Mount Vernon Triangle: Community In Detail,” and the opening of “Prather’s Plaza.” With current exhibit “Rush Baker IV: Landscapes” serving as a backdrop, attendees were treated to beverages courtesy of HEMPHILL along with remarks from MVT CID President & CEO Kenyattah Robinson and DC Office of Planning Director Anita Cozart before moving outside to experience the enhanced public realm for themselves and hear artist John Ruppert speak on his “Verdant Orb” public art sculpture.
