In honor of Kamala Harris’ history-making achievement as America’s first female Vice President of color and in celebration of Women’s History Month, we encourage you to visit the #MVTProgress mural located at the intersections of 5th & K Streets NW. This mural serves as a reminder of the glass ceilings shattered and progress made for future generations in our community, across America, and around the world.

All are encouraged to admire the mural while reflecting on the past and looking ahead to brighter days. Please be sure to share your photos and tag @mvtcid and #MVTProgress.

This large scale, public mural was installed on Martin Luther King Day in January through a partnership among the Mount Vernon Triangle CID, the late John Chisholm of P.A.I.N.T.S. Institute and the owners of the property at 476 K Street NW. The commemorative mural – which serves as a celebration of community, arts and education – aims to unite and rally all Americans to work toward peaceful, positive change. Local artists Shawn PerkinsLevi Robinson and Dez Zambrano applied their talents to bring this creative activation to life.
