Taiko Drummers at Kushi

Monday April 15, 2013

Come witness a live performance of Japanese drummers at Kushi Izakaya on April 11th at 8:00 pm. As part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Kushi will host a performance of Taiko drummers by Tamagawa University (Tokyo). This is the second year Kushi is hosting 40 young men drumming and women dancing in Taiko fashion.

In addition, the evening will feature a Cherry Blossom inspired cocktail and special buffet dinner inside Kushi. The all-you-can-eat buffet is $40 per person from 5:30-9:30 pm. Kushi will also have its “Kushi-Moto” food truck parked near its outdoor café seating area serving warm donburi bowls and sushi rolls to the performers and the public. Finally, a sake tasting will take place 5:30-7:00 pm inside the restaurant in a special seating area.

Tamagawa Academy was founded in 1929 as an elementary education organization. Later a secondary education division was added, and in 1947 Tamagawa University received approval for establishment as an “old system” (pre-war) university. As an academy that encompasses all school grades, Tamagawa University currently provides education from kindergarten to graduate school within a single campus in Tokyo.
